The CNYSBA offers this mandatory six-hour Finance Training program for new school members, which is fully accredited by the NYS Education Department and fulfills all requirements for newly elected school board members. All school board members taking office on or after July 1, 2017 must complete this training by July 1, 2018.
Like our annual Governance Training for newly elected school board members in June, the Finance Training course will offer the same type of in-depth curriculum and top-level faculty – at a price that is significantly lower than other providers.
Further, as with all CNYSBA programs, the Finance Training will foster interaction with other new board members from the CNYSBA geographic area – folks who share similar concerns and perspectives that help provide a richer and more collegial learning environment.
Here is the REGISTRATION FORM. The course fee is $75 per person and is paid by your school district.
All reservations must be made through your district office no later than Friday, October 27th to Renee Stone at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While this course is primarily directed to new board of education members, sitting/veteran board members and other school personnel who are interested in a school finance refresher are also most welcome to attend!
New school board members welcomed and
thanked for your service in public education!
Newly elected school board members are required by law to complete 6 hours of financial oversight and governance training respectively within their first year on the board. This training is typically paid for by the school district and offered by CNYSBA.
The Governance Training was split into two days and held at the CNY Regional Information Center at OCM BOCES, Rodax Commercial Park Building 8, 6075 East Molloy Road in Syracuse.
