Working with MACNY to Close the Skills Gap.
Our mission at CNYSBA in working with MACNY’s Workforce Development team is to attract and prepare individuals for rewarding careers in New York State through strategic collaborations that strengthen our economic infrastructure.
More than 80 percent of executives agree there is a talent shortage in U.S. manufacturing. CNYSBA recognizes that MACNY is fighting the skills gap head-on through programs such as Partners for Education and Business (PEB), P-TECH, CTE, The Manufacturers Intermediary Apprenticeship Program (MIAP), registered through the State of New York. This effort falls firmly in line with our mission at CNYSBA.
- to inform public school board members about contemporary issues affecting public education and the operation of public schools;
- to provide forums for school board members where they may learn from one another;
- and to mobilize board members to effectively influence those outside the schools who also share responsibility for education of our children.
Through partnerships with area colleges and businesses, MACNY strives to engage students early and provide a meaningful education towards a career in U.S. manufacturing. Additionally, they push for apprenticeships and keep the community abreast with the latest knowledge through newsletters.
Our partnership with MACNY benefits their efforts as we communicate our local board members and school districts and the information they provide allows us to keep school boards members informed, as we promote the message that graduating students in CNY have many options in today's modern workforce.
"Together, we work to amplify the message that a New York State high school graduate need not leave the region to find a great career. Our manufacturing and business partners seek these graduates to fill positions that offer sustainable employment." -MACNY
In 2017, CNYSBA officially became an affiliate of MACNY. We're working together with local employers to help prepare our children with the skills needed for 21st-century careers, right here in central New York.
